Who we are
Slippery Source is primarily the online marketplace for halfmeta, a group of creative people working with various technologies and fabrication methods to create bespoke solutions for interesting challenges. We are firm believers in the right to privacy and the freedom to only share personal information where essential.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection and prevention.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
If you upload media (images, videos, etc.) to the website please avoid sharing any files with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) still attached to the file. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data that may expose your location or other sensitive information.
Any content, assets, subscriptions, downloadable content, or other products purchased from Slippery Source where a balance must be paid before access is given will communicate with a 3rd party payment gateway or provider. Any data entered will go directly the payment gateway or provider, and that data will not persist in your web browser. Slippery Source does not access or store this information.
Depending upon the nature of the form you may be asked to provide a name and email address to be sent along with your inquiry. These forms serve as a means to directly respond to your request and having the means to contact you with a reply is vital to providing support or information. Your contact information will be stored along with the conversation history, but not exposed publicly on the website.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
When making payments for a product from the website our 3rd party payment processor may set a temporary cookie within your browser to verify your identity. The content and duration of this cookie is determined by the payment partner, and is outside the control of Slippery Source.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Slippery Source follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this and a part of hosting services’ analytics. The information collected by log files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users’ movement on the website, and gathering demographic information.
Your contact information
Who we share your data with
Slippery Source does not sell your information. When attempting to access additional features of the website data you provide may be shared for verification purposes. When utilizing normal operations of the website that communicate with 3rd party services (spam detection, payment processing, etc.) you are sharing some of your data with those companies in order to purchase or utilize additional features in the website.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information, but website editors do not have access to view or alter other user’s information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Any data shared with websites and services outside Slippery Source will be inaccessible to us, and if there are questions about how that data is handled or a need to have it removed you must reach out to the data holders to submit an inquiry regarding data they may potentially have stored.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service that does not store your information, only examining the content to determine the likelihood if the content could be spam.
When calculating shipping costs your address is checked against an API to determine the appropriate postal fees.
